This is an intentionally vague outline of the big things we hope to accomplish in the farm’s first few years. We are trying to be flexible with the goals to help us adapt to unpredictable situations.
2023
- Establish Pasture grass for grazing animals
- Plant 6.5 acres in Chestnuts, Apples, Hazelnuts and raspberries, among others
- Plant a perimeter of “buffer” tress to help protect against extreme wind and pesticide drift
- Setup a water management system

2024

- Plant another 6.5 acres in Chestnuts, Apples, Hazelnuts and raspberries, among others
- Start raising chickens
- We hope to have mushrooms by now (we didn’t)
- Plant a lot of garlic in an alley
2025
- Plant the final 6.5 acres in Chestnuts, Apples, Hazelnuts and raspberries, among others
- Start a hive of bees to help the perennials with pollination and hopefully produce delicious honey
- Plant another alley of garlic and also a long row of potatoes
- Cut and bale the grass/alfalfa mix

2026

- Continue to help the perennials grow by weeding, mulching, and watering
- Replace any trees that have died
- Propagate our successful berries
2027 and Beyond
- See what we have producing and start to plan CSA and Specialty Boxes
- Begin to incorporate more livestock (cattle, hogs, chickens, and turkeys)
- Propagate our early producing perennials
- Continue to fill out the alleys with perennials, vegetables, and fruits
- Work towards closed loop sustainability!
